Community invited to make music with University of Wisconsin-Rock County

By UW-Rock County

(Janesville, Wis.) -  Many opportunities exist for members of the community to make music at University of Wisconsin-Rock County.  The campus offers three instrumental ensembles – concert band, jazz band and chamber orchestra – with a long tradition of mixing students and community members into cohesive groups.

The groups have no audition requirements - just bring an instrument and play!  The UW-Rock County Concert Band has been in existence for 50 years.  This year, practices start on Wednesday, September 6 at 7 p.m.  The UW-Rock County Jazz Band has been gathering for the greater part of two decades and starts practicing on Wednesday, September 6 at 8:45 p.m.  The UW-Rock County Chamber Orchestra enters season 16 on Monday, September 11 at 7 p.m., preparing to perform an all Bach concert in November and will feature members of the Whitewater String Quartet.  All rehearsals take place in the “band room” – WCC-139 - in the Wells Cultural Center on campus.
