Question and answers:
Q. Can I run FlashPhs on campus. Yes, but only from the Zoology lab. Students are not allowed to install software on campus computers.
Q. How can I tell what version of FlashPhs is installed on my computer? A: From the opening menu, select the "Help" pulldown menu and then select "Version Information".
Q. Can I print only a selected range of cards/pages from a card collection. A: No, not right now. When you click on "Print", the whole collection prints, five cards at a time. I'll add this option in a later version.
Q. Can I use FlashPhs for my other courses? A: Sure. I certainly would appreciate hearing how you have utilized the program.
Q. How do I conserve memory when carrying images on floppy disks? A: If you scan your own images to import into FlashPhs, save them as JPEG or GIF formats. These file formats consume much less memory than BMPs (bitmaps).
Q. How do I copy a card collection with images from a hard disk to a floppy drive without losing links to images? A: Open the card collection. Select "Package Images" from the "File" menu. Select the floppy drive (usually "A"). Name the folder and card collection appropriately. FlashPhs will copy all linked images along with the card collection to the newly created folder on the floppy drive.
Q. Can I create card collections and run them in Homework Quiz Mode? A: No, sorry. Use Self Quiz Mode and select the options you want.
Q. Can I store my card collections on campus so I can access it from any zoology lab computer when I log in? A: Yes. Students now have hard disk space reserved on the network.
Q. Why can't FlashPhs be available from the Web? A: Because of copyright issues, I am unable to make the program public.
Please feel free to ask questions regarding this software. I'll post your questions to help everyone.
