Scanning Basics

This is a basic guide to scanning images and saving/inserting them afterwards.

To access the scanning software, do this:
  1. Click the Start button. Go to "Programs", then "HP ScanJet Software", and then click HP PrecisionScan Pro.

Then to start scanning, do the following:
  1. Go to the Scan menu, and click "Preview". The scanner will then scan the image.
  2. Left-click and drag, using the mouse, to crop the picture. Draw a box around what you wish to keep (if you don't want to use the whole image that is).
  3. Now, save it to wherever you wish. In most cases, you'll be saving to your H: drive. So, go to the Scan menu, and click "Save As...". Use the pull-down menu at the top to navigate to your H: drive. Type a name in for the picture and save it.

Note: You should choose .JPG format for photos, and .GIF format for clipart/line-art.
