Burning With Windows XP

In both, Windows XP Professional and Home edition, there is built-in CD burning software. This page will lay out, step by step, the procedure to follow in order to burn CD's just using the built-in software that ships with XP.

  • Identify the files you want to put on a CD.

    Here are the files that will be burned onto CD.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     


  • Highlight all the files you want to move, right-click, and select either "Cut" or "Copy".

  • Paste the files onto the CD (While viewing the CD within "Windows Explorer" or "My Computer").

    The files have been pasted onto CD and are ready to be burned.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

  • Click "Write these files to CD".

    One click away from starting the burn session.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

  • The CD Writing Wizard will pop up. Put in a CD Name and then click "Next".

  • The Progress Screen will indicate how much time is left until the burning is complete.

  • Indicate whether or not you wish to burn an additional CD. Then click "Finish".

  • Viola! The files have been put onto the CD.
