The University of Wisconsin - Rock County uses Microsoft products, including Microsoft Server operating systems, Microsoft Windows for desktop and lab computers, and Microsoft Office for applications.

The offices of Information Technology and Instructional Technology can only support Windows-based computers that are located on our campus. We cannot provide user support for machines located off-campus nor for non-Windows computers located on-campus.

Users are responsible for making sure that their anti-virus definition files are up-to-date and for making appropriate back-ups of their local hard-drives (C:). Network drives are backed up each evening to tape, and tapes are rotated nightly to provide a window of 1 week of system backup.

Users should avoid opening email from unknown sources, especially if the email contains any kind of file attachment. File attachments are indicated by a paper-clip icon in the message list.
