(Janesville, Wis.) - The University of Wisconsin-Rock County Concert Band presents "50th Anniversary Gala!" on Wednesday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kirk Denmark Theatre on campus. This is a very special concert commemorating the 50th anniversary of the opening of the UW-Rock County campus and will feature guest conductors David Viemeister (member of the band during the 1970s and high school educator), Professor Robert Holt (professor of music at UW-Rock County until 1997) and Professor Theodore Kinnaman (professor of music at UW-Rock County until 1994).
This concert will feature longtime band member William Burdick performing a tuba solo entitled "Beelzebub" composed by Antonio Catozzi (and conducted by Professor Holt), the UW-Rock County alma mater entitled "Hail to Thee, Veritas" composed by noted alumni David Ramsey (and conducted by Professor Kinnaman), and other selections including works by Karl L. King, Richard Saucedo, Percy Grainger and others.
