Placement Testing

Information will be sent with the admission letter about Placement Tests for English, math and foreign languages. The results of these tests determine which math, English and foreign language courses you will take. New freshman pay a $30 Placement Test fee that is automatically added to the first semester tuition & fees statement. If you are a transfer student, you may be required to take a placement test in math or English, depending on what math and/or English courses you have taken at other institutions.

Placement testing results will not affect your admission status. Re-entry or current students will not be permitted to take additional placement tests in a subject once they have completed a course in that subject.

UW System placement tests in math and English are required of all new freshmen and transfer students without previous college-level courses in math and English. You will be allowed to take the placement test after your admission decision has been made. Placement testing results will determine your placement into either degree credit or non-degree credit math and English courses.
